Duchess Sophie enjoys a charming interaction with her guide dog during a reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Duchess of Edinburgh captivated attendees at Buckingham Palace by warmly engaging with guide dog Jennie during a special gathering for newly elected Members of Parliament.

Sophie, 60, was present at the event when she spotted a golden retriever that acts as a guide dog for Liberal Democrat MP Steve Darling.

Overjoyed by the meeting, the duchess knelt down to greet Jennie and warmly said, “Oh my goodness, I’m your patron!” In response, the cheerful dog extended her paw, making for a touching moment.

The event, organized by King Charles and Queen Camilla, assembled Members of Parliament and the House of Lords.

Before the event, Darling mentioned that Jennie treats the Palace of Westminster as her personal space, playfully claiming to see herself as its “Queen” and relishing the attention from tourists.

Jennie, known as “Britain’s most renowned guide dog,” has amassed a large online following, with nearly 20,000 supporters on her social media account, Rt Hon Jennie. She attracted attention in 2023 after enduring a perilous attack.

For the event, Sophie appeared stylish in a white maxi dress paired with understated gold accessories, beige kitten heels, and fine jewelry.

Recognized for her passion for animals, the duchess has supported Guide Dogs since 2021 and is a dedicated pet owner, having a Cocker Spaniel named Mole and two black Labradors named Teal and Teasel.

The event was attended by prominent political figures, such as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Opposition Leader Kemi Badenoch, and Nigel Farage from Reform UK.

Sophie was spotted having discussions with multiple members of Parliament, such as Tessa Munt from the Liberal Democrats and Helena Dollimore from Labour.
