Recently, I embarked on a unique experience by trying out the Silentnight Cosy Cuddles Snuggle Pod, a dog bed designed for both humans and their furry companions. Marketed as a “human kennel,” this plush creation aims to foster quality bonding moments between pets and owners. With my two dogs, I was intrigued to see if it could truly enhance our life together.
The Set-Up
The Snuggle Pod boasts enough space for a 6ft tall person and at least one dog. However, as I quickly realized, sharing this space with two dogs created quite a challenge. I already had a spacious bed that I shared with my larger dog, leading me to wonder whether a designated giant dog bed was truly necessary. Many argue against sleeping alongside dogs, citing cleanliness concerns, and I can certainly relate. Our home features several well-used dog beds that seldom look clean.
A Cozy Experience
Priced at £69.99, the Snuggle Pod is surprisingly inviting straight out of the box. It offers comfort and might even work for an overnight guest if you can squeeze them in. Nevertheless, my dogs were not immediately sold on the idea. The larger of the two approached with skepticism, and I had to coax her to join me. Ultimately, both dogs found their way to the Snuggle Pod, albeit with varying degrees of enthusiasm.
A Mixed Review
With the pod’s removable and washable cover, a feature likely disappointing for dogs, I wondered whether it truly served its intended purpose. Targeted primarily at Gen Z, its marketing sometimes omits the dog altogether, showcasing contented humans in cozy solitude.
As the larger dog finally relaxed and curled up beside me, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie. Here we were, an unlikely trio, enjoying a moment of peace. However, as I lay there, I found myself wishing I had oriented the bed towards the television instead of the ceiling.
In conclusion, the Snuggle Pod offers an interesting take on pet bonding; whether it truly enhances life together remains to be seen. After all, there’s always the traditional bed if this experiment doesn’t pan out.
